Which Mallorca town halls offer an IBI rebate for solar panels?

According to the by-laws we reviewed, 20 municipalities, including Palma, Calvià, Marratxí, Inca, Alcúdia and Pollença. The percentage and duration vary: see the table.

Is the IBI rebate applied automatically?

No. You have to apply to the town hall, usually with the installation certificate and, in some municipalities, within a deadline. We handle it for you.

Can it be combined with the income-tax deduction?

Yes, they are separate: the rebate is municipal and the deduction is from the tax office. What cannot always be combined are the state and Balearic income-tax deductions with each other.

For these municipalities we have not found an up-to-date by-law we can cite with confidence: Algaida, Banyalbufar, Binissalem, Búger, Bunyola, Campos, Consell, Escorca, Esporles, Estellencs, Fornalutx, Lloret de Vistalegre, Llubí, Maria de la Salut, Montuïri, Sa Pobla, Santa Maria del Camí, Sóller, Son Servera and Valldemossa. If your home is in one of them, we check with the town hall before quoting.

How the saving is worked out

The IBI rebate applies to your yearly bill: with a €600 bill and a 50% rebate for 3 years, you save €900 in total. ICIO is paid once when the works permit is requested and is usually 3–4% of the works budget.
