How much does a solar system produce in Palma?

According to the European Commission’s PVGIS tool, each south-facing kWp in Palma produces around 1,575 kWh a year, the same as Palma. It is among the sunniest of the 53 municipalities we analysed (rank 3). The best month yields about 172 kWh per kWp and the weakest about 89 kWh.

A typical 5 kWp system therefore produces about 7,875 kWh a year, with indicative savings of €945 a year. Exact figures depend on your usage and roof.

What to consider in Palma

The Balearic Government’s FACTOR 2026 programme, which paid 45% towards home batteries, 70% towards EV charging points (max €2,500), 40–70% of the panel cost for businesses and 70% for owners’ associations, closed to applications on 17 October 2026 because its budget ran out. Palma is really many towns at once, and each area calls for a different solution. In Son Vida, Son Rapinya, Establiments and Sa Vileta we work on villas with tiled roofs and plenty of space. Permits with Palma city council

Most self-consumption systems only need a prior notification to Cort, which we file along with the technical documentation. It is different in the old town and in listed buildings, where a heritage report is required and timescales get longer; there we design the system to keep it out of sight from the street.

Palma reduces property tax (IBI) and the building tax (ICIO) for self-consumption. The percentages and the number of years depend on the by-law in force, so we check your case before you sign and prepare the applications.

Apartments, penthouses and shared garages

Many people in Palma live in an apartment and assume solar is not for them. It can be: under Spain’s Horizontal Property Act, panels on the shared roof need the approval of just one third of the owners, representing one third of the shares — whether the system serves the whole building or a single flat. Electric cars are similar: to install a charger in your own space in a shared garage you only have to notify the owners’ association; no vote is needed. We handle the cable run from your meter, the charger and the certification.
