The climate for heat pumps in Andratx
Andratx lies at about 75 m above sea level, in climate zone B3 of the Spanish Building Code (CTE). According to the 2014–2023 PVGIS series (European Commission), the coldest month is February, averaging 12.9 °C, and the municipality has about 203 heating degree days a year, 32% less than Palma (297). For comparison, Palma has 297.
In this climate, for a 120 m² home built between 1980 and 2006 we estimate a heating demand of about 4,050 kWh a year and about 6.2 kW of power, covered by a 7 kW Vaillant aroTHERM plus.
Compared with an oil boiler (about €1,230 a year for heating and hot water for 3 people), a heat pump with radiators would cost about €385: indicative savings of €845 a year. Underfloor heating or fan coils improve efficiency further.
Heat pump grants in Andratx
If the heat pump replaces an oil, propane or gas boiler, a Vaillant unit earns about €1,750 in Energy Saving Certificates (CAE). For a main home, Spanish taxpayers can also deduct 40% of the investment from income tax, up to €3,000. And the installation can be financed interest-free. The Balearic Government’s FACTOR 2026 programme closed to applications on 17 October 2026 because its budget ran out. For reference, a 7 kW unit would have received up to €4,900 (€700 per kW of heating output). If you already applied, we help you with the final paperwork.
What to consider in Andratx
Winters in the Serra de Tramuntana are colder and damper than on the coast, so we size the heat pump with a margin and position the outdoor unit to fit the protected landscape.
For holiday homes, app control lets you switch on heating or cooling before you arrive.
Near the sea we protect the outdoor unit against salt air and position it to reduce noise.
Complete, certified installation
We calculate heat loads, choose the emitters, install the unit and hot-water tank, certify it under RITE and handle the CAE and the energy certificates for the income-tax deduction.
